Official Rules

U.S.G.A. rules govern all play, with the following exceptions:

1. The tournament format is a 4-person scramble. Each team member may place the ball within one (1) club length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole. If the shot selected is played from a hazard, bunker, rough, fairway, or fringe of the green, again the ball must be played from within one (1) club length of the shot selected and must remain in the hazard, bunker rough, fairway, or fringe of the green.

2. When putting, once any ball is holed out, no further strokes count. The team is cautioned not to make "tap" in putts until all team members have had the opportunity to attempt the team's original putt. The original putt may be moved a maximum of two (2) inches from the mark, no nearer the hole.

3. On every hole, each member of the team may hit a tee shot. Each member's tee shot must be used a minimum of 2 times. All members of the team may then hit from that position.

4. May not play the same players shot twice in a row on each hole. (Balls played on the green are exempt from this rule.)

5. Men play from the Blue tees. Women play from the Red tees.

6. Mulligan are available from the tournament sponsor for $5 each. There is no limit on the number of mulligan a player may purchase, however, mulligan must be purchased before the round begins in order to be used during the round. Mulligan may be used at any time during the round except that shots played using a mulligan do not qualify for hole prizes.

7. The purpose of the WBA Golf Outing is to raise money for the WBA scholarship fund. Please keep this purpose in mind while playing, have fun, and please accept our sincere thanks for your generous support.

8. "EXTRA CLUBS" IN YOUR TEAM GOLF BAG: Your team will have the following 3 "extra" clubs in a team bag today:
   Foot Wedge - One (and only one) member of your team may kick the ball as far as they want from its resting position on the ground.
   Hand Wedge - One (and only one) member of your team may pick up and throw the ball as far as they want. 
   3 club lengths - You may move the ball in increments of your longest club length from the original spot of the ball. This includes putting. Each team can use three club lengths for the 18 holes, Not all club lengths need to be used together.
     *Each of these clubs may be used only once per team during the round.
     *Before using these special clubs, you can use the normal method to select the best shot of all the shots just made.
     *Use of these special clubs does NOT count as a stroke on your score card!

    

    

    

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS:

Closest to the Pin:  This competition has one division. If your tee shot is closest to the hole, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest. Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a closer shot. Use the flag stick as a measuring rod if it is a close call. Then, that person should repeat the procedure of writing their name on the card below the other name(s) and place the marker at the spot.

Longest Putt Made:  This competition has one division. If your putt is the longest made, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where you putted the ball. Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else makes a longer putt. Use the flag as a measuring rod if it is a close call. Then, that person should repeat the procedure of writing their name on the card below the other name(s) and place the marker at the spot.

Longest Drive:  This competition has a Women's and a Men's division. If your drive is the longest, write your name on the marker card and place the marker in the ground on the spot where your ball came to rest. The ball must be in the cut fairway to count. Once the marker has been placed in the ground, it should stay there until someone else hits a longer drive. Then, that person should repeat the procedure of writing their name on the card below the other name(s) and place the marker at the spot.

 

Florida Scramble

Works like a conventional scramble except that the team may not select the same golfer's shot twice in a row until reaching the green. Once on the green, this restriction no longer applies.

If a player's shot is selected, that player is to skip the next shot altogether.

A Florida Scramble adds a tactical wrinkle not present in an ordinary Scramble. It is no longer an automatic decision to select the best-placed ball every time. There will be occasions where the team will prefer to choose the second best shot so that a particular player will be eligible to hit the next shot. Perhaps there is a water hazard to cross and the captain wants his best player to have a chance at crossing it. Perhaps one member of the team is particularly good at approach shots. Whatever the specific reason, a Florida Scramble combines strategy along with skill.
